SUPPORTING STATEMENTS OF CANDIDATES FOR THE POSTS OF PARENT GOVERNORS

5th October 2018

Nicola Coppen

I am the utilities project manager at Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, Chair of the Kent & Medway Construction Guild and have two businesses of my own.

Diligence is a project management consultancy and 4Roles4Goals is a not for profit organisations helping young people bridge the gap between education and the workplace.
I would like to be considered as a Parent Governor for King Henry School as I am keen to ensure that the school priorities and strategies work for all students, who in turn have the best opportunities available to them.

Community and giving are important, hence my application.

Lisa Musker

Lisa is currently a parent governor at a primary school. She would like to be considered as a parent governor as she really enjoys the position she has held for the past year. She likes to get hands on and enjoys working closely with children, staff and parents at the primary school in which she also has young children in Years 1 and 3. She now has a child in Year 7 at King Henry School and she is keen to be involved in a secondary school and get to know its policies and procedures.

Lisa Smith

My name is Lisa Smith. I am married and have three children who are 20, 14 and 10 years old. Two have attended King Henry School. I have always lived in the Bexley Borough. I am a Midday Supervisor at Bedonwell School and volunteer with the Parent Support Adviser there. I also volunteer with Family Lives. I am a member of Bexley Running Club. As a parent I think it is important to have a good relationship with all teachers and support staff so together we can help all children feel safe and happy in school and reach their full potential.

Christopher Stephenson

Christopher would be a good parent governor because he understands the importance of preparing our young people will, for this ever changing and complex world. Over the past 15 years, running his own business, he has learned the value of hard work, resilience, good feedback and mentorship.

Christopher would be honoured to serve this school and to help King Henry School to become of the of the best places to teach and learn.

Sophie Sykes

I am 47 years old, married, with two sons, both of whom attend King Henry School. I am a qualified family lawyer and I currently work in a self-employed capacity. Our eldest son attended Erith School since Year 7 and is now in the Sixth Form. Our youngest son entered Year 7 this year (2018)*.

I believe that I have a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of our school. I am very optimistic about the collaboration as a MAT with Townley Grammar School and the benefits that I feel this will bring to our school. I would very much like the opportunity to represent all of our parents on the new Local Governing Board. I believe everyone of our children deserves an excellent education and the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Dear parents,

King Henry School Parent Governor elections October 2018

I would like to take this opportunity to rectify an error in Mrs S Sykes' supporting statement. It states that her youngest son joined the school two years ago. This is inaccurate and should have read that her child joined Year 7 this year (2018).

Please accept my apologies for the error.

Kind regards,

Philip Matson
